Responsibilities and Requirements

Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor, including but not limited to setting up ladders, and working at various heights & pitches on roofs. Safely work at heights above 6 feet. Ability to work strenuously (bending, lifting, stooping) throughout the day in all-weather environments.

Working knowledge of basic math skills for material calculations.

Prior experience in roofing systems including shingles, low slope/flat roof applications, metal, and exterior home repairs (siding, windows, doors, etc.).

Being able to identify Material/Tools/Equipment specific to the roof application is a plus but not required.

Maintain a good working knowledge of all OSHA industry safety requirements.

Communicate effectively with estimators, office personnel, and team members.

JOB SUMMARY
The Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate project estimates by clarifying needs, then gathering and analyzing critical data. Highly qualified candidates will accurately calculate job costs and execute profitable business decisions. The Commercial Roofing Estimator will provide detailed reports for individual projects and organizational strategic planning. The estimator will have experience estimating flat and metal roofs of various roofing materials. This candidate will be highly organized and detailed oriented to ensure the highest quality of work and estimates.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
● Understand and prepare take-offs/estimates for assigned jobs.
● Identify labor, material, costs, and time requirements by researching proposals, blueprints, and any related documents.
● Collect quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers in order to develop and submit a cost estimate for each project for review by management.
● Stay current on addendums and drawing revisions before the time of tender.
● Prepare and submit bid documents for projects to customers. Then, own the bid process ensuring high quality customer experience and increased bid acceptance rate.
● Maintain a database of bid tabulations and competitor prices on projects for pricing analysis.
● Assist Project Managers throughout the awarded project timeline to work within budget and identify variances that should be incorporated into future estimates.
● Provide reports and assist leadership in the development of innovative pricing strategies that exceed sales goals and increase revenue.
REQUIREMENTS
● Proven experience as estimator or similar position
● Familiarity with financial and project management principles
● Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities

● Excellent organizational skills
● Occasional after-hours or weekend work as needed to meet deadlines.
● 3-5 years’ experience in commercial roofing estimating or similar field (Highly preferred)
● Knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation formulas. (Highly preferred)
● BS/BA in engineering, construction science or relevant discipline. (Highly preferred)
● Edge estimating software experience preferred

Requirements:
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of roofing experience highly preferred
- At least 3+ years of experience managing teams in a construction, trades, or service-oriented field.
